APM PRO agreement with the AGH University of Science and Technology
On 7 November 2023, APM PRO signed an agreement with representatives of the authorities of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. The subject of the agreement is the construction of a vehicle weighing station together with the WIM Pro software.
Intercomp Company is a leading USA-based manufacturer of Strain Gauge Strip sensors. These sensors benefit transportation officials on every continent, providing quick, reliable, and accurate weighing data for every vehicle type on the road. The sensor can be used at any speed in various applications such as roads, bridges, tunnels, etc. Intercomp brings in over 45 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining all types of weighing equipment for the transportation industry.
The aim of the project is to develop a solution enabling the introduction of vehicle weighing systems in road traffic in Poland, operating in the ‘direct mass eforcement’ mode. The system will be designed to weigh vehicles in traffic with high accuracy. The application of such solutions is aimed at: limiting the destruction of road infrastructure and the negative impact on the environment, improving road safety, as well as eliminating unfair competition between transport companies (related to the presence of overloaded vehicles on the roads).
The state-of-the-art solution, using linear strain gauge sensors mounted in the road surface, will enable accurate measurement of wheel load and vehicle weights.
The stand will be used to develop a measurement method that works in an automatic mode, thus detecting overloaded vehicles (similar to what happens with a speed camera).
The agreement between APM PRO and AGH University of Science and Technology was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering of AGH University of Science and Technology – Prof. Ryszard Sroka, Aleksander Konior – President of the Management Board of APM PRO and Bartłomiej Bertoldi – Member of the Management Board of APM PRO. In addition, the meeting was attended by the Faculty Deputy Dean for Science and Cooperation – Prof. Janusz Gajda.
