Automatic Incident Detection and Video Surveillance System
S19 Expressway – Iskrzynia – Miejsce Piastowe Section
As part of the project entitled “Construction of the S19 expressway on the section from the Iskrzynia interchange (including the interchange) to the Miejsce Piastowe interchange (including the interchange)”, with a total length of approximately 10.3 km, APM PRO participated in the implementation of the Traffic Management System (KSZR) as a member of a Consortium.
The scope of APM PRO’s work included the supply, installation, and preparation for commissioning of KSZR modules related to road incident detection and video surveillance. As part of the project, 16 automatic incident detection cameras (VD) in class 104.D and 4 cameras for video data acquisition in class 106.A were installed.
The incident detection cameras were located in the areas of entry and exit lanes of the expressway, enabling automatic detection of events significantly affecting traffic safety, such as stopped or slow-moving vehicles, congestion, collisions, objects on the roadway, pedestrians on the road, and wrong-way driving vehicles. Image analysis is performed locally within the cameras, and event information is transmitted to the Traffic Management Center (CZR) systems.
The video surveillance system is based on high-resolution PTZ IP cameras installed on gantry structures. The solution provides real-time monitoring of traffic conditions and weather conditions, remote camera control, preset programming, and video archiving, supporting TMC operators in decision-making and coordination of emergency services.
All devices were installed on road infrastructure structures and prepared for operation, technical condition monitoring, and integration with the ICT infrastructure, with final connection to the platform enabling live view in the Traffic Management Center. All cameras installed on this section constitute an integral part of the National Traffic Management System, contributing to improved safety and efficiency of traffic supervision on the S19 expressway.
